The workshop has been opened by IPALMO president, Gianni De Michelis. and has developed on three separate panels: geo-strategic situation, opportunities created by the new context with special consideration for the demographic dividend and urbanization; an analysis to single out difficulties and requirements to be met in order to successfully implement the new strategy.

IPALMO/IDLO Project:
Strengthening the Role of Parliament in Addressing the Social Cost of National Economic Reform and Promoting e-Parliament knowledge and Instruments in Egypt, Iraq and Lebanon”.”
The project is financed by the Italian state assistance fund and once started will last 18 months. Based on experience gathered in the course of the first project, IPALMO along with IDLO will further develop relevant themes in an effort to build up parliamentary institutions in the three nations. Specifically, the project aims to promote parliamentary efforts as they pertain to PMIs (the Project Management Industry) and determine their social impact on Lebanon, Iraq and Egypt. This phase will see active participation by Italian local, regional and parliamentary institutions. Two missions have already been completed, in Egypt and Lebanon, their intent to identify local participants and to plan events.
Assistance in the Modernization and Democratic Processes of the Parliaments of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro.
